Tiny baby steps I said.

I'm going through a period where I've been slammed with odd inspirations to come up with rhyming sentences. I wouldn't go so far to say they are poetry. But my dear friend told me I should put them down all at one place, just in case.

I hardly think this will last, but I'm penning them down anyway.

Everyone overthinks things, much less at night when you're all alone in your room.

In the dead of the night
I heard an unfamiliar noise in the absence of light.
Steadily I plastered myself to the walls to investigate
Cursing and filling the room with fear and hate.
But all I found was the innocent rustling of the plastic bag,
And I sagged with relief for I had initially envisioned a hag.

My typical travel around Singapore usually comprises of a bus. So what I experienced the other day helped pop this few lines out.

I tried not to make a fuss
But I suspected something had died in the bus.
I peered left and right
Then I spotted the culprit, holding his fart with all his might.

And just yesterday, my friend recently shared with me his big news so I hurried to write down some lines just for him.

So I met this guy 9 months ago.
A friendly face, with no large ego.
Through the months he was easy to talk to
And conversations flowed to and fro.
Occasionally he spoke of his long-time girlfriend
who never ever drove him around the bend.

Tonight he shared that he finally asked for her hand
And I glowed with happiness for my friend.
My friend, yes you, Jay by the bay.
May you and Hazel forever lay by the hay
Kissed by multitudes of sunrays
Always make her happy or you will eventually pay.

And tonight I had a sudden hit of inspiration when I was showering. A few lines for a friend I've known for many years now. Since I was 11. She's leaving for Zambia in a month (India first I know), and I don't know, my brain registered it when I was being drenched with water I guess.

Eleven and young, I had just transferred to a new school.
That's when I saw her along the corridors grinning like a fool.
There and then I decided she was going to be my friend
But I ended up calling her names as and when.
This went on for more than she would have liked
But, she tolerated me with all her might.

We ended up in the same school again when we were seventeen.
By then she probably thought I was pretty mean.
We didn't hang out much all these years
But I secretly wanted to bring her to tears.

At nineteen, Destiny lumped us in the same group
And after four years we hung out like an old troupe
I've always cracked jokes at her expense
But deep down my affection for her is immense.

I've never really told her how much she means to me
But I guess now's a good time as any, my little peewee.
As we travel on to our separate journeys
Just know you're always my little honey.

She's always been my number one supporter
Even though I always tell her not to bother.
She was the one who said to start a blog
Even if life is going to be a fog.

Love you muchmuch my Sanguinie.

So that's it for now. Till my brain gets slammed with more odd inspirations.
