For Mom

I saw her pictures
When she was younger.
She's a wonder
A sight to behold.

After two sons, she wished for a daughter
One she could pamper and maybe have a banter.

When her daughter was two, she gave her her all
And made sure to catch her if she falls.
She soon turned five,
And started her journey in life.

When her daughter turned eight,
With swimming competitions left and right.
So she told her daughter to always fight
Not knowing she was always her daughter's bright light.

She wanted her daughter to have the best
And gave her piano lessons and tuitions in the west.
Every weekend she cleans and cooks
So that her daughter could read her books.

When her daughter became a teen,
She felt her presence was a little less keen.
She was a little sad, and maybe a little mad,
But she kept taking care of her as she always had.

She gave her daughter tough love
So that she could rise above.
She nagged and nagged,
But her daughter was getting used to that.

She didn't allow boyfriends
Thinking that it could all go out of hand.
She was protective like a hen
But never drove her daughter round the bend.

Sometimes they'd talk about stupid stuff
And all that's filled with fluff.
Other times they'd watch korean dramas
And cried like sad llamas.

Her daughter recently just ended her university days
That she and her husband had so painstakingly paid.
For twenty three years she had brought her up
And realised her daughter loves to buy her cups.

Mom I would just like to wish you a happy mother's day
And tell you you are my private sunshine ray
Anything you want in the future I will try to pay
I'll repay your love in so many ways.

Love you mom
